Frequently Asked Questions
What breeds do you offer?
At Blue Falcon Farms, we like to keep it interesting! We order various breeds of chickens and turkeys every 3-5 weeks, so we have a rotating stock. If you have any requests, please send them our way! In the meantime, check out upcoming pullets (and a few cockerels) here.
Why don't you sell laying-age hens?
We do not hold onto chickens for longer than eight weeks, as we simply do not have the space to do so. Our babies live in a small pen, and they are moved to a larger pen with roosts after a few weeks. Once chicks are ready to be off heat, we move them to a small coop with an enclosed run for a week, and then we allow them to free-range on our acre along with our own adult chickens.
Do you sell baby chicks?
We typically do not sell baby chicks unless you are prepared to put the work in, and you are willing to buy six chicks as per the state vet's recommendations.
Before eight weeks of age, chicks need special, constant attention, as well as time under a heat lamp. We do the hard part for you! We also prefer to hold onto chickens long enough to determine for sure that they were sexed correctly at the hatchery. We are not experts by any means, but waiting until eight weeks of age typically gives us a better idea if there has been a sexing mistake.
When will you be selling animals aside from chickens?
We will be selling turkeys this summer! We currently have Broad-Breasted White and Narragansett turkeys, with more varieties on the way.
We will be adding two Nigerian Dwarf Goats to our farm in July, but they will not be ready to breed until mid-2021.
